MACAU (Macau Daily Times), October 6, 2008:
The “2008 Macau Elderly Sports Games” held yesterday at the Macau Forum attracted a total of 3,000 participants.
The event was organised jointly by the Macau Sports Development Board, the General Union of Neighbours Association, Macau Women's Association as well as the Macau Worker's Union.
The winners of the games were given awards, and the “oldest male and female participant” were also honoured.
The oldest male participant was a 94-year-old named Chan Sao U, while the oldest female participant was a 90-year-old named Ng Hao.
The 94-year-old man told the media that the best way to maintain longevity was to “join as many sports as you can,” adding that he participated in many kinds of sports events.
The event was divided into one 50-to-59 year old group and another 60-year-old or above group. Sixteen groups won the events and were awarded by the organisers.
