CHINA: Traditional treat

. SHANGHAI, China / Shanghai Daily / National / January 23, 2010 Women enjoy laba porridge yesterday at a temple in Nanjing, capital of eastern China's Jiangsu Province. It is a Chinese tradition, origin from Buddhism, to gather and share the porridge on the eighth day of the 12 month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It is part of the prelude to the month-long Spring Festival celebration. Having the special porridge is supposed to bring blessings and health.
