USA: Dance teacher celebrates 50 years of teaching

A Colorado Springs woman is proving you are never too old to dance.

Barbara Ellis, of the Barbara Ellis Studio of Dance, is celebrating her 50th year of teaching this weekend. The 74-year-old woman has survived breast cancer and has had two full knee replacements. Despite the obstacles, nothing has stopped her from dancing or teaching.

Her studio, Barbara Ellis Studio of Dance was one of the first dance studios in Colorado Springs. She offers instruction in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Modern dance. Over the years, she has taught students from the age of 3 to 83. Barbara and her students have been honored with numerous awards from the local arts community.

Barbara's 50 year milestone will be celebrated when the studio presents it's annual production, "The Main Event," this Friday, June 11.
