The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City on Saturday announced launching a door-to-door service for the elderly and people with special needs.
Under the new initiative, according to the municipal department, senior citizens and people with special needs now do not need to visit municipality offices to seek services; instead officials will visit them with a mobile office whenever they need to carry out a transaction.
‘Now municipal services will be delivered to community segments at their homes through vehicles fitted for this purpose such that their transactions will be processed without obliging them to visit the premises of the Municipality or external municipal centres, thus saving much of their time and effort,’ the department announced.
The department further added: ‘These mobile municipal services cover special needs, elderly, widows and divorcees in order to mitigate their sufferings, cost and time as the municipal staff will be there in their homes in vehicles fitted with office machinery and modern and comprehensive electronic equipment to process their transactions at home.’
He further added, facilitate the procedures of service delivery, the municipality has set easy steps for customers to follow starting with the customer contacting the Call Centre at 80022220 to furnish the staff with his or her personal details (name, address, marital status and some simple inquiries).
‘The customer will then receive a welcoming text message acknowledging the receipt of the application which is being processed. Another text message will be sent to the customer advising the timing of the visit of the Municipality’s representative to the client at home to process the service and offer deliverables,’ added Al Murrar.
